New Orleans Friends of Music is committed to supporting the cultural vitality of our community. In 2015, we established an annual residency program to allow our visiting artists extended opportunities to work with our community. Through community partnerships, the residencies are designed to incorporate New Orleans’ rich musical history by pairing our visiting ensembles with local musicians in performances and educational events.
We are excited to announce our spring 2019 artists-in-residence:
WindSync Woodwind Quintet
March 29-April 2, 2019
Residency activities include master classes with winners of NOLA Chamber Fest chamber music competition, workshops with members of the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestras, and sessions with students at St Michael’s Special School, Lusher School, and others. WindSync will also perform “Peter and the Wolf” in costume at the Louisiana Children’s Museum. All members of the community are welcome with LCM admission or LCM membership to attend this performance. This program is supported in part by grants from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, TEGNA, the Ella West Freeman Foundation, and by a Community Arts Grant made possible by the City of New Orleans as administered by the Arts Council of New Orleans.
