NOLA Chamber Fest Competition
NOLA Chamber Fest was established to promote chamber music in New Orleans and the Gulf South region. Its mission is to inspire and motivate classical musicians through the experience of true collaboration and artistic independence that only chamber music can offer.
Presented in collaboration with Lyrica Baroque, New Orleans Friends of Music, and the University of New Orleans, NOLA Chamber Fest is proud to annually host New Orleans’ very own chamber music competition. The competition consists of five divisions: Junior (4th - 8th grades), High School, College, Graduate, and Community (adult amateur musicians). A Young Artist section has been added to the competition this year for young professional ensembles up to the age of 35. Musicians from the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra judge the competition and cash prizes are awarded to the winning groups in the top five divisions. Winning ensembles also receive the opportunity to perform in a masterclass with world renowned chamber ensembles brought to New Orleans by the Friends of Music. Winners of the Young Artist division are offered a performance opportunity and those from the other divisions are featured on the Winners Showcase Performance preceding the Friends of Music concert. This program is supported in part by New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, TEGNA Foundation, and Ella West Freeman Foundation, and by a Community Arts Grant made possible by the City of New Orleans.
All NOLA Chamber Fest participants will receive a complimentary ticket to this year’s guest artist performance on April 1. Friends and family members of NOLA Chamber Fest participants can purchase tickets to the Winners Showcase and guest artist performance for $15 at the door on the day of the event.
