About New Orleans Friends of Music

Since its founding in 1955, New Orleans Friends of Music has provided our citizens the opportunity to experience the finest national and international musicians the world of chamber music has to offer. We believe that the performance of chamber music is an important part of the musical fabric vital to the culture of New Orleans. Chamber music is an intimate and engaging art form that inspires a love of pure music, a delight in conversational discourse among players, and a desire for intimate communication with an audience through music. Providing access to this art form is critical to the cultural health of a community that takes much pride in and has a great understanding of the importance of art and culture to Louisiana life.

NOFOM supports and extends the full range of chamber music repertoire through performances and commissions; supports educational activities that encourage adults and young people to appreciate the art form; and showcases exceptional emerging chamber musicians.

Since inception, Tulane University has been a presenting partner, hosting performances in the University’s Dixon Hall.

New Orleans Friends of Music is a 501(c)3 organization. To keep ticket prices well below the national average, Friends relies on your generosity in addition to a network of community supporters.

We are always in search of volunteers to help make our artists’ visits to New Orleans memorable and pleasurable. If you are interested, please contact us at neworleansfom@aol.com
